It is a sad day for rock and roll!
Long term frontman of DiR.net favourites Heaven’s Basement, Richie Hevanz has left the band. Heavens Basement who I have seen twice now were flying high after completing a UK headlining tour and were back in the studio recording new material.
This news is such a shame as Richie was a amazing lead singer and was the driving force behind Heaven’s Basements sucess. He will be greatly missed by all! Lets hope Heavens Basement manage to find another great singer to keep their amazing rock and roll show on the road!
Here is what Richie had to say to his fans:
“After 18 months of amazing highs and amazing experiences, I feel that the lifestyle and constant touring has taken its toll and its time for me to move on to different pastures! In short guys, I’m afraid I will be stepping down as the lead singer of Heaven’s Basement.
I want to thank everyone who has supported me through this amazing time in my life. I also want to thank my brothers in HB for their understanding and friendship! I would like to thank all the fans of Heavens Basement for all their love and support over the last 2 years! You’ve all made my life a brighter place!
I wish the guys all the luck in the world for their future.
I thank Richie personally for all the great records and amazing times i’ve had watching him perform in Hurricane Party, Roadstar & Heaven’s Basement over the course of the last 5 years. Lets hope he will be back soon & that Heaven’s Basement move from strength to strength in his notable absence!
The Departed Richie Heavenz

And so it begins … DoesItRock.net … Rock On!
This week I heard some news which was to greatly sadden me, I mean even brinking on slight depression.
Roadstar, a superb band I’ve been following for a few years have hung up their guitars, powered down their amps and split, Sob Sob Sob.
This is such a great shame what with loads of exciting classic rock influenced band on the brink on noteriety. Not to mention this comes literally weeks after the release of their sophomore album Glass Mountain. However my insticts tell me that although Roadstar are laid to rest, they wont be gone for long. If you like to belive wikipedia here’s the rumour…here
Anyways as a tribute to this amazing band heres the highlights of thier brief but dazzling lifespan.
In their original name, Hurricane Party I was lucky enough to catch them live in brighton. This was fantastic and they still had original guitarist ‘Krepy’ who was astounding. Gig review here.
The release of their first full album Grand Hotel was a big milestone as they did so on thier own label. Grand Hotel mirrored the energy and lust for stadium worthy chorus lines of their debut E.P. Get This. Stand out track …. Roadstar – Band were renamed after this great track.
After a change of name and lineup (no Krepy) they were back and i went along to see them in london. Sandwiched between 2 probably more popular bands they stole the show and performed another cracker of a gig. Review…
In recognition of their non-stop touring and great tunes they were names Classic Rock Magazines best new band of 2006, beating Wolfmother to the crown, quite a feat!
They had recently released Glass Mountain and its superb. Full of classic riffage and infectious chorus’s. Outstanding solos and melodies which make you wanna rock-out like the ghost of Hendrix. Standout track… Last Survivor – Bon Jovi Homage Paid with this re-Recorded track with added dual guitar attack!
Which only leaves me to say, Cheers Hurricane Party / Roadstar fror a great 3 Years of keeping true rock alive and hope to be hearing of your imminant return soon!
Not that Blunt would actually have any manhood to step up to one of the rock and roll greats! Wellar speaking in an interview reacted angrily at the chance to play alongside the bordom inducing cringer Blunt at this years Brit Awards, where Wellar will be picking up the Outstanding Contribution To Music award.
He told the Mirror: “I’d rather eat my own s*** than duet with James Blunt.” And a spokesman for Weller’s record company V2 added: “James isn’t exactly the coolest singer around at the moment – he’s the last person Paul would sing with.” Now heres is a guy with taste!!
Maybe now after being knocked down from his high horse Blunt can go back to plaguing the cd players of middle aged women and never be seen again. For the common good that is.
After months of hype over the side project of Jack White and Brandon Benson. Finally the ‘Raconteurs’ have released some tracks from this highly aniticipated new release. After hearing them I can only declare this a total success with the vision and talent of Jack on guitar with the lyrical and pop prowess of Benson there can be no wrong. The new track “Steady As She Goes” demonstrates that even after the mellow white stripes album, Jack can produce riffs to rock your socks. As expected the detroit blues is a heavy influence which is no bad thing.
Off I hop to my lecture singing the incredibly catchy chorus!
I have recently been referred to the great music recommendation website. The Pandora project has been running now for 5 years and they have been analysing what seems like every track on earth, from classic’s to new indipendant music lookign for sets of commonalities. Through these they can reccommend you new music based on similarities to an artist you like. Setting this up is easy as you only need to specify an artist and it plays you a wide variety of excellent music! You can even tailor the station by giving your opinion on its selections making more accurate for future users.
Only drawback at the moment is that you have to be a resident in the USA with a valid Zip code can register. But even the free service is good and i can wait for it to be unleashed on the uk. This is one Box you really do want to open
